Mirror neurons are fascinating and have led to a greater understanding of how we empathize with others and have also given us an understanding of how to better treat individuals with communication and motor challenges. The mirror neuron system is a group of brain cells that fire not only when the individual is participating in an action (reaching for something, frowning, eating), but also fire when the individual observes this action in others.
